Hauling Hay
This is my latest set up for hauling hay. The round bales are obviously way easier to feed plus the animals can free feed meaning they can eat when they want. So, let chance at bloating which Ruby tends to like to do especially when hand fed just morning and night.
The bales are net wrapped so once I have it positioned, I cut the net and remove it. Then, let them have at a fresh bale!
I buy a 750 lb bale from the Hay Shed north of Sturgis and she loads it in the back of the pickup. Wes and I roll it out into the sheep pen. And, I have a super simple feeder me out of hog panel and zip ties. I really like the zip ties because they are very strong yet if an animal really got tangled up and needed to free itself, they would in fact snap allowing the animal to get out of the bind. It has worked really well.
